Heavy Metal Assessment in Water, Sediment and Biota from Ennore Creek and Vellar Estuary, Southeast India

چکیده

The impact of anthropogenic activities on the accumulation heavy metals in water, sediment and fish both Ennore creek Vellar estuary were observed this study. Water sample collected from sampling stations was just only creek. Sediment samples subjected to a total digestion technique (HNO3 – HCl HF conc.) analysed using spectrophotometer. Four elements Cu, Cd, Zn Pb (trace elements) determined. Heavy metal concentration significantly higher than estuary. order levels water is Cu > Cd sequence Cd. showed following sequential order: estuary: Pb. In creek, muscle tissue order, O. mosambique (7.3mg/g), M. cephalus (7.13mg/g) A. djedaba (6.76 mg/g). high (5.25 mg/g) followed by (4.63mg/g) (4.24mg/g). Based overall average present different organs samples, trend are as follows: Cu: Muscle liver gills Zn: gills.

Physico-chemical parameters in Parangipettai coastal waters and Vellar estuary, Southeast coast of India

Physico-chemical parameters, species composition and seasonal variation in phytoplankton abundance have been studied in other regions of Indian coastal waters (Saravanakumar et al., 2008; Vengadesh Perumal et al., 2009). For confirming the good quality of water resources large number of physico-chemical parameters, extend and source of any pollution load must be know for which monitoring of phy...

Risk assessment and mitigation measures on the heavy metal polluted water and sediment of the Kolleru Lake in Andhra Pradesh, India

The Kolleru Lake is a famous Ramsar wetland of international significance. In this study heavy metal contents in water and sediment samples are reported. It is found that certain potentially toxic metal ions like chromium (4.5-80 µg/L), copper (1-20 µg/L), manganese (1-313 µg/L) and zinc (1.2-57 µg/L) are present in variable quantities in the lake water. When normalized with respect to concentr...

Surface sediment properties and heavy metal pollution assessment in the Pearl River Estuary, China

Grain size and concentrations of heavy metals (arsenic (As), cadmium (Cd), chromium (Cr), copper (Cu), mercury (Hg), lead (Pb), and zinc (Zn)) of 148 surface sediments and activities of 210Pb and heavy metal concetrantions of one sediment core from the Pearl River Estuary were analyzed. The surface sediments were dominated by silt and sandy silt. Sediment type controlled the spatial distributio...
